POTATOES IN FOIL ON THE GRILL A very simple recipe that many probably have their own version of, but wanted to share anyway.  And record, too, I guess. Ingredients: 8 medium potatoes 2 small onions 8 tsp butter 2 tsp minced garlic Lawry's Seasoning Salt Garlic Salt Onion Salt Pepper Wash and cut potatoes into wedges, taking out any bad spots.  Cut onions into slices.  Pile potatoes and onions on to a large piece of foil.  Spoon butter onto potatoes in different spots.  Also spoon minced garlic onto potatoes.  Sprinkle with seasonings.  Mix around to get everything covered in spices.  You could also add olive oil instead of butter, but I didn't think of that today. Turn up sides to make a kind of bowl/container and add more foil to the top.  Seal all sides. Cook on grill for about an hour or until potatoes are done. Serve hot with butter, seasonings, sour cream, gravy, ketchup, etc. Whatever your family prefers.  Jesse and the kids m
PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE BARS My mother always put peanut butter into her Rice Krispie bars. When I made them when I was older I had to guess each time how much.  I finally figured out what worked and wrote it down so it wasn't a guessing game. People compliment me on these all the time when I bring them places.  They are not as cloyingly sweet as some Rice Krispie bars can be.  First, I always use the original Kellogg's Rice Krispie bar recipe, never a generic version.  The other versions tend to have the same amount of marshmallows, more butter,  but less rice krispies making them sweeter (to me, anyway).  I don't care what brand of rice krispies I use, I buy whatever is cheapest, but it has to be the original Kellogg recipe.  Second, I always add the peanut butter. They are just so much better that way! Because of the peanut butter, when I bring them places, I always tell people there is peanut butter in them (or label them) because people don't expect p
FIRE CRACKERS I got the recipe from here:  http://www.food.com/recipe/fire-crackers-423316 1 lb unsalted saltine crackers (4 sleeves) 1 cup canola oil 1 (1 oz) package ranch dressing mix 2 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Line crackers on ends (like dominoes) in an air-tight container. In a small bowl, mix oil, dressing mix, peppers and garlic powder.  Stir until ingredients are well mixed.  Continue to stir to prevent the peppers from settling on the bottom of the bowl. Spoon mixture over crackers, like drizzling icing on a cake. Close lid tightly and flip the container over every 5 minutes for 20 minutes.  Lightly shake back and forth to make sure all the crackers are coated.  Store in a Ziploc bag.  Will keep for about a week. Pretty tasty!  Jaqi & Jesse like them too!

APPLESAUCE BREAD PUDDING Bread pudding was a childhood favorite dessert of mine.  My mother gave me this recipe.  I don't know if it is her own or her Mom's or Mother-in-Law's.  Jesse has never cared for bread pudding and because Dad doesn't like it, the kids won't try it.  I think Jaqi might try it this time, though.  A couple of years ago around Thanksgiving I decided I was making it for myself anyway and freezing it for enjoyment later.  OH, how I LOVED it!  I'm not sure why it's taken me almost two years to do it again?  It's not difficult.  Probably because I feel a little guilty making something just for me.  I know, lame, right?  But true of many mothers everywhere..... Ingredients: 5 cups soft bread crumbs 3 cups scalded milk 1 cup applesauce 1 cup sugar 1 cup raisins (optional) 1/2 cup margarine 3 eggs 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cinnamon I took some cinnamon bread we happened to have that was gett
JESSE'S STUFFED GREEN PEPPERS A favorite of ours that we have cooked on Sunday afternoons since the early days of our relationship.  When he first made this for me, it was different from what my mother made, which I had loved my entire childhood.  I remember not being sure about the tomato sauce and using it as a gravy on the potatoes - what?  Funny to look back at now because nothing could compare to his recipe now, as far as I am concerned. At first it was just peppers, hamburger, rice, potatoes and tomato sauce.  Over the years, cabbage rolls and chunks were added - just because we both LOVE cabbage.  We make a VERY large batch, which provides leftovers for the upcoming week for lunches and/or dinners. Please keep in mind that I will try to be as specific as possible, but our recipes are mostly in our heads and we tweak them each time depending on what we have around, what we might like to try new, etc.  For the seasonings, we just use what we have around and it chang
